Y/CON’s approach has always been (and has been since time immemorial when we called ourselves Yaoi Yuri Con) to include the younger members of the community. Many of us share the experience of being able to access BL/GL during our younger years, and we feel it’s essential not to leave this part of our community out in the cold.

Nevertheless, the Y/CON is undeniably a convention attended by adults (97% according to our Y/CON 9 ticketing statistics) and we think it’s a good idea to adjust this minimum age to allow as many people as possible to feel comfortable at the Y/CON.

The rules already in place remain unchanged:
– Exhibitors must censor explicit (violent or sexual) content displayed on their stand (sealed R18 artbook, post-it notes hiding explicit parts for illustrations, binder clearly labelled R18, etc.) – we remind you that the Y/CON considers female and male nipples on the same level: they do not have to be censored.
– Cosplay performances must not contain explicit elements (violence or sexuality). If the performance in question so requires, trigger warnings may be issued prior to the performance in question.
– Events not suitable for minors are indicated on the programme.

• Minors aged 16 and 17 must :

Present the participation authorization form (completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian) along with a photocopy of the ID of the parent or legal guardian who signed it, as well as proof of affiliation or guardianship. These documents will be requested during ticket inspection.

• Minors aged 14 and 15 must:

Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and present a photocopy of an identity document, as well as proof of affiliation or guardianship when tickets are checked;
OR be accompanied by an adult who has received authorization from the parent or legal guardian to accompany the minor. This person must present proof of identity, the participation authorization form (completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian) and a photocopy of the identity document of the parent or legal guardian who signed the form.

Please also note that strollers, infants and pets (except guide dogs) are not allowed in the convention.
