At Y/CON 12, come along to the panel discussion ‘Homoromance and Trans Identity: What Role Do They Play in Today’s Publishing World?’, a session dedicated to the representation of transgender people in literature and the issues it raises today.

Featuring Aya Balbuena, Jessie/Frank, Sasha Laguillon and Sir Thomas No More, this session will be moderated by Kelig.

Although trans people can be lesbian or gay, the majority of the portrayals we see of romances involving trans characters depict heterosexual relationships between a trans person and a cisgender person. In this panel discussion, the guest authors will examine this heterosexualization of trans romances in fiction, the absence of romances between trans people, and which trans people are represented in these works of fiction.

Following the round-table discussion, there will be a book-signing session with all the panellists. A wonderful opportunity to continue the conversation and meet the authors in attendance.
